Boon or Bane of LIS or Learners Information System!!!

We as a future educator, must know about this Learners Information System or the LIS, must know the advantages and disadvantages and also the importance of this. First of all we need to know what is the meaning of Learners Information System. According to the meaning of LIS it is an innovative tool that the Department uses to manage information with the aim of promoting transparency, informed decision making, and empowerment at different levels of the organization. While being a tech-based solution, the LIS involves an inclusive, community-driven process that thrives because of the active engagement and participation of all teachers, principals, planning officers and other DepEd personnel all throughout the Philippines.

As I am reading the meaning of Learners Information System (LIS) I know that my perception to this is not only a bane or not only a boon. Because, I think that Learners Information System (LIS) is both a Boon and a Bane. Boon because it helps the teachers and also the school’s registrar or everyone that is involve in the profile of the students. It helps the teacher to easily know who is failed in his/her subjects and also it monitors the attendance and if there have a students that is drop-out. It also helps the teacher to know his/her enrolled students and to easily update their information and compile the files of every students that are enrolled in his/her class.

It is also a Bane because for the teachers that are not familiar to the Learners Information System (LIS) it is hard for them to cope up to this system. Not all the teachers are computer literate that’s why this system also has a disadvantages. Also this system needs an interet to operate it, and we all know that not all of them can afford to have an internet in their house that’s why it is a burden for them. We can easily say that internet is not an issue nowadays, but we know that computer can’t work without an internet.

All I want to say in this blog is Learners Information System (LIS) can be a boon and a bane according to your perceptions and status in life. We as a future educators, must need to be familiar on every system that the DepED’s make and make sure that we are updated everytime. Being a teacher is easy if you will work hard with your heart and be passionate about your job. There’s nothing hard to teach when you are giving your 100% when you are teaching. To become a teacher is not a dream, it is a calling for the right person. Just live your dreams and it will come true, maybe not now but soon for sure.
